About Cboe Global Markets
Cboe Global Markets — originally the Chicago Board Options Exchange — opened on April 26, 1973 as the world's first listed options market, born out of the Chicago Board of Trade. It is the largest U.S. options exchange and one of the largest globally, and originated the Cboe Volatility Index (VIX) in 1993, now the most widely cited measure of expected U.S. equity volatility. After the 2017 acquisition of Bats Global Markets, Cboe operates four U.S. equities venues (BZX, BYX, EDGX, EDGA) alongside Cboe Futures Exchange, Cboe Europe, and Cboe Australia.
